Daily moves on the pasture

All the chicken terminology out there makes things confusing; organic, free range, pasture raised. Heck, I’m not even sure 100% of the time what it all means!

To clarify, below I will show and describe why I say LC Family Farm poultry are pasture raised and organic fed.

The chicken tractors are moved daily, up until the birds are 5 weeks old. At that time they are moved twice a day. There are wheels on the back (pictured below) that are put on for each move. I then pick up the front, via a rope, and move it forward.

After a week or so the chickens become accustomed to it and look forward to the fresh new grass. They come running and clucking to the front of the tractor when they see me coming!

Along with the grass, weeds, and bugs, the broilers are fed the above organic feed.

Eating some grass

What you see here is a before and after of the grass. The chickens do a really good job of “fertilizing”, and they eat up a ton of the grass!

As you can see, the chickens live on fresh grass daily, and this is why I call them pasture raised. They are also only fed an organic\non GMO feed.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. We currently have about 15 broilers left from the last batch that can be purchased. The ones above will be ready in about 30 days.
